Gas is removed from a fibre suspension of high consistency by means of an apparatus having a rotor chamber and a rotor disposed for rotation in the rotor chamber. The rotor has blades adapted to fluidize the fibre suspension and to cause a centrally located core of gas surrounded by a cylindrical layer of fibre suspension to form. The rotor has a plate located in the portion of the rotor opposite to the inlet of the rotor chamber which has an opening or openings close to the rotor axis. The gas is removed from the rotor chamber through the openings in the plate to a gas discharge and the fibre suspension essentially free of gas is discharged through an outlet. The operation of the apparatus is controlled by maintaining the pressure difference between the inlet and the gas discharge at a predetermined level.

The invention relates to a device for the release of gas, such as air, from a suspension of fibers, and is intended, in particular, for thick slurries.
The presence of air in the pulp makes it difficult to perform many operations, and in particular the pumping of high consistency pulp with a centrifugal pump. The higher the air content in the pulp, the greater the inlet pressure must be to ensure that the pump fulfills its function. If the available pressure at the ingot inlet is low, the air in the pulp forms bubbles that accumulate in front of the propeller, so that the HaftymaeT has a normal pump function.
The aim of the invention is to increase the efficiency of the device.

The device comprises a housing with a rotor chamber 2 and a gas chamber 3. Between them there is a partition 4 having an opening 5 at the rotor axis, providing communication between chambers 2 and 3. The housing 1 has a suspension inlet 6 and a suspension outlet 7. Gas chamber 3 has an outlet of 8 gas. The rotor chamber contains a rotor 9, provided with blades 10, the rotor 9 has a cavity P in the center and holes 12. The upper end of the cavity 11 is closed with a conical cap 13. A plate 14 with holes 15 is located at the other end of the rotor across from it. on the rotor axis. The rotor 9 and the plate 14 are fixed to the shaft 16 mounted by the pins in the bearing housing 17, the blades 18 fixed to the shaft 16 are located in the gas chamber 3. The device can be installed in the lower part of the pulp tank 19, so that the rotor 9 is located Partly inside the tank. The engine-tank air-tank 22 and the vacuum pump 23 should be installed on the engine valve 21.
The system also contains a flow tube 24 connected to a gas chamber; a washing chamber; and a compressed air tube 25 through which air, the pressure and the amount of which is regulated, can be supplied to quickly change the pressure difference at start-up and as needed. .
The device works as follows.
Due to the rotation of the rotor 9, the nearby pulp in the tank 19 is liquefied and flows through the inlet 6 into the rotor chamber 2. The rotation of the pulp caused by the rotor 9 results in a separation of air and pulp, so that a central air core is formed, surrounded by pulp. The air can be released through the openings 12, 15 and 5, which communicate with each other and with the gas chamber 3, from where the gas outlet 8 is discharged. The pulp from which the air is separated, passes through the outlet 7. The blades 18, located in the gas chamber 3, are crushed and the pulp that has accumulated in the chamber 3 is removed while standing up in an inoperative state. The blades 10 of variable width provide at the beginning of movement the direction of the suspension of fibers along the axis of the rotor, and at the end - increasing the pressure of the suspension at the outlet of chamber 2. The diameter of the air core in this case returns in front of the hole 5 in the partition 4, and pulp access to the gas chamber 3 locked.
The magnitude of the pressure difference between the inlet of the fiber suspension and the gas outlet greatly affects the operation of the apparatus. A too small pressure difference makes the air core so large that it makes it difficult for the pump to operate.
If the pressure difference is too large, the air core becomes so small that a certain amount of pulp is ejected with air through the holes 12, 15 and 5. When the device is used to discharge the pulp from the tank, the pump inlet pressure changes as the height of the pulp surface changes. To stabilize the pressure difference
between the pump head and the gas outlet, the device is supplied with sensors and a valve (Fig. A). The optimal pressure difference depends on the pulp consistency and temperature. Empirically, it is determined that it should be in the range of 0-0.7, preferably 0.2-0.5 bar.
The differential pressure control provides control of the size of the air core by means of valve 21 so that a predetermined pump head pressure is achieved.
